Arkangel - Arkangel de la Muerte (Archangel of Death)

CMLL luchador Arkangel aka Arkangel de la Muerte was born on July 16th, 1966 in La Venta del Astillero, Jalisco, Mexico.
He was trained by Diablo Velazco, El Mariscal, El Yaqui, El Carnicerito, Pepe Casas, Satánico and Franco Colombo, amd made his lucha libre debut in April of 1985.

His debut though was under the name Mister Cid, not Arkangel.
During his career he has held numerous titles, most notably the the CMLL World Welterweight Championship and the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.
Arkangel is the real-life brother of luchador El Cerebro/Torbellino (Antonio Pasilla Dorado).
Along with Nitro, Hooligan and Skándalo, he was part of the Los Guerreros Tuareg in CMLL.
I say "was" because when I checked CMLL's website, I didnt see Arkangel on the roster.

However I did find his Facebook page and he seems to still be active in CMLL

Angel Azteca Jr. - Lucha Libre

Angel Azteca Jr. - Lucha Libre

Atomic Boy - AAA Wrestling

Atomic Boy - AAA Wrestling

AAA Luchador Atomic Boy was born on September 11th, 1991.
He was trained by Dizzy, Gran Apache, Tom Mix Jr. and Mini Abismo Negro.
Atomic Boy made his Lucha Libre debut on November 20th, 2003 not as Atomic Boy, but as Mini Vaquero.
He wrestled under that name until switching to Mini Dizzy.
He adopted the name Atomic Boy in 2008.
Like a lot of other luchadors, he has a wrestling family.
His father is Tom Mix Jr. and his grandfather is (of course) Tom Mix who took their names from Hollywood’s first Western megastar.

I gotta admit, I liked his Dizzy costume better.

AAA Luchador Argos

AAA Luchador Argos

Masked luchador Argos was born on October 14th, 1985 in Mexico City, Mexico.
If his mask and demeanor in the ring look familiar, it's because he is the brother of Místico, who you may know better as WWE Superstar Sin Cara.
That makes Argos the son of Manuel Almanza (Dr. Karonte), the brother of luchadors Astro Boy and Argenis, the cousin of Magnus and the nephew of CMLL booker Tony Salazar.
Argos was trained by Dr. Karonte, Tony Salazar and Franco Colombo and made his pro wrestling debut in 2002.
He is five foot eight and weighs 190 pounds.
Argos has worked for CMLL, AAA and IWRG.
He joined the stable Real Fuerza Aérea AAA in 2011.

AAA Luchador....Abyss?

Yeah I know this is a lucha libre blog, so why is Christopher J. "Chris" Parks, better known as TNA's Abyss here?
Because at the moment, Abyss is one half of the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) World Tag Team Champions, along with Chessman.
And he's also one half of the Ring Ka King Tag Team Champions along with Scott Steiner in India.
He really gets around.
Anyway, Abyss and Chessman defeated Extreme Tiger and Jack Evans in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match to become the AAA World Tag Team Champions on October 9th, 2011 in Monterrey, Nuevo León at Héroes Inmortales

AAA's El Zorro in TNA

It is rumored that former AAA World Heavyweight Champion, El Zorro (Jesus Cristóbal Martínez Rodriguez) has been signed by American wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
According to reports, the contract is for two years and is non–exclusive, which means he should still be able to work for both TNA and AAA.
However, he isn't appearing on the AAA roster at their website anymore.

Ultimo Gladiador - Lucha Libre Mexicana

Luchador Ultimo Gladiador was born Gerardo Campos Poza on March 28th, 1978.
He was trained by Black Man, Rocky Santana, Macho I, El Pantera (his uncle) and Sacramouche.
Ultimo made his lucha libre debut on June 11th, 1997 in Arena Naucalpan in Naucalpan, Estado de México, but he didnt debut as Ultimo Gladiador.
He started out as as a rudo called El Potro ("The Colt").
Ultimo wrestled under that name for about two months before taking on a mask and the name Mega, as part of the Los Megas that also included Ultra Mega and Super Mega.
This all took place in the International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) wrestling promotion and when he left IWRG, the Mega persona was given to Cesar Caballero.

Super Fly - Lucha Libre AAA

One of the reasons I like Lucha Libre so much is because of the really cool costumes and masks.
Case in point, Super Fly.
Super Fly was born on February 24th, 1987 in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, and is the son of luchador El Seminarista.
His uncles are all luchadors, Murciélago I, Murciélago II, Murciélago III and Robinson.
He was trained by his father, Skayde and Psicosis, and made his lucha libre debut on May 1st, 2001.
Yes, he was just fourteen years old.
After wrestling for smaller promotions, Super Fly signed with Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in 2005.
Along with Laredo Kid and Nemesis, he was one of the founding members of Real Fuerza Aérea (Royal Air Force), a group that consisted of young tecnicos (faces) that were high fliers.

After enjoying several years as a hero, Super Fly turned bad and changed not only his tactics, but his ring attire as well.
He left Real Fuerza Aérea and joined two other rudo (heel) groups La Milicia (The Militia) and La Sociedad (The Society, a merger of La Legión Extranjera, Los Perros del Mal, La Milicia and Los Maniacos).

Relampago - Lucha Libre AAA

This interesting looking masked man is Asistencia Asesoría y Administración luchador Relámpago (Lightning).
Relámpago was born on February 14, 1981 in Hermosillo, Sonora.
So happy early birthday!
He was trained by luchadors Ráfaga de Oro, Latino, El Mexicano and Gran Apache, and made his lucha libre debut on May 23rd, 2003 at Arena Obreros del Progreso in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.
Relámpago won the 2010 AAA/FMF Lucha Futbolistica (Soccer Fight) a joint event put on by the Mexican Football Federation and AAA.
There he was known as Mexico.

There was also a Relampago comic book superhero published in the 1970s.
That character was the first Mexican American superhero in the American comic book industry.

Polvo de Estrellas - Lucha Libre AAA

Polvo de Estrellas - Lucha Libre AAAIf you thought Pimpinela Escarlata was wild last time, wait till you get a load of Polvo de Estrellas.
"Star Dust" reminds me a lot of Goldust.
Hmmm...

Polvo de Estrellas - aaa wrestling - mexicoAnyway, Fidel (or Felipe) Alvarado is another Exotico who wrestles for the Mexican Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) wrestling promotion.
And like Pimpinela Escarlata, Polvo de Estrellas is not one to be taken lightly.
He was trained by luchadors Braulio Mendoza, Arturo Padilla, Gran Hamada, Karloff Lagarde, Abundio Radilla, Sordo Flores and Yamato.
He made his wrestling debut in 1987 and has wrestled under many identities like Adrian, Siniestro, Faces I, La Llorona Loca, Coco Rosa and Amadeus.

Amadeus for one is really cool looking...

Pimpinela Escarlata - Lucha Libre AAA

Pimpinela Escarlata - lucha libre aaa - triplea - luchadoresNow for a luchador who is a bit different from the others I have profiled here in the past.
Mario González Lozano was born on April 18th, 1969 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.
He works as Pimpinela Escarlata, an Exotico for the Mexican Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) wrestling promotion.
Exoticos are ...well...different from the wrestlers we have here in the WWE or TNA, with the possible exception of the old Billy and Chuck tag team.

Exoticos are not new in Lucha Libre.
They have been around since the 1950s, with luchadores like Adorable Rubí, Sergio el Hermoso and Bello Greco, but Pimpinela Escarlata has helped give legitimacy to this style of luchador, having held the Pista Arena Revolucion Welterweight Title, the IWA Light Heavyweight Title, the National Light Heavyweight Title, the National Middleweight Title, and one half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles with Fabi Apache.

He was trained by Halcón Suriano and Héctor López, and made his debut in Lucha Libre on June 15th, 1988 in Matamoros, Coahuila.

Nygma

Mexican Luchador Nygma was born on January 21, 1974.
We know that much, but the rest is kept secret under the veil of secrecy that surrounds a lot of the masked luchadors.
He was trained by Rodolfo Ruiz, Raúl Reyes and La Bestia Negra, and made his lucha libre debut in June of 1992 as Galaxi working for Promo Azteca, a short-lived wrestling promotion based in Mexico.
He then went to Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and joined Los Vatos Locos, a KISS tribute group along with Picudo, Charly Manson and May Flowers.
After that, he joined Polvo De Estrellas, Jessy and Yuriko to form Los Night Queens.

In 2009, Nygma left AAA and along with Cibernetico, Punket, Emo Extreme and Steel Rock, formed a new group in the Indy wrestling promotions called Los Bizarros.
Later in 2009, he returned to AAA with Los Bizarros to help Cibernetico attack Dr. Wagner, Jr.

So far during his career, he has held the National Atomicos Titles (twice with Picudo, May Flowers and Charly Manson and once with Espiritu, Picudo and Silver Cat), and the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.

Judas Mesias - Lucha Libre Mexicana

Judas Mesias - lucha libre AAA - lucha libre
Gilbert Cosme was born on May 25th, 1976 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
Gilbert Cosme may not sound familiar, but if you follow lucha libre, you may know Gilbert under one of his many ring names like El Mega Triple Campeón de AAA, Asesor Cibernetica, El Mesías, Muerte Cibernetica, Ricky Banderas or Judas Mesias.
Heck, even if you dont follow lucha libre, you may know him from his appearances here in the US working for wrestling promotions like the short lived Wrestling Society X (he was the last wrestler to win the WSX Championship) or Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
There was even a rumor going around that he might make his way to the WWE.

He made his wrestling debut in 1997 and except for brief stints in the before mentioned WSX and TNA, he has wrestled for the Puerto Rico-based professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Association (IWA), Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), and another Puerto Rico-based promotion, The World Wrestling Council (WWC).

As far as belts, titles and awards go, during his career so far he has held....

Asistencia Asesoría y Administración
AAA World Heavyweight Championship (three times)
GPCW Super-X Monster Championship
IWC World Heavyweight Championship
And won the Copa Antonio Peña in 2008

International Wrestling Association
IWA Hardcore Championship (nine times)

IWA World Heavyweight Championship (five times)
IWA World Tag Team Championship (five times. Three times with Gran Apolo, once with Glamour Boy Shane and once with Cruzz.
