Pimpinela Escarlata and Polvo de Estrellas

I was kinda shocked to see that the two most popular luchadors on this blog last month were Pimpinela Escarlata and Polvo de Estrellas.
It seems the Exoticos ruled here last month.
And never let it be said that I don't give the people what they want, so here they are again.

Arkangel - Arkangel de la Muerte (Archangel of Death)

CMLL luchador Arkangel aka Arkangel de la Muerte was born on July 16th, 1966 in La Venta del Astillero, Jalisco, Mexico.
He was trained by Diablo Velazco, El Mariscal, El Yaqui, El Carnicerito, Pepe Casas, Satánico and Franco Colombo, amd made his lucha libre debut in April of 1985.

His debut though was under the name Mister Cid, not Arkangel.
During his career he has held numerous titles, most notably the the CMLL World Welterweight Championship and the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.
Arkangel is the real-life brother of luchador El Cerebro/Torbellino (Antonio Pasilla Dorado).
Along with Nitro, Hooligan and Skándalo, he was part of the Los Guerreros Tuareg in CMLL.
I say "was" because when I checked CMLL's website, I didnt see Arkangel on the roster.

However I did find his Facebook page and he seems to still be active in CMLL

Nygma

Mexican Luchador Nygma was born on January 21, 1974.
We know that much, but the rest is kept secret under the veil of secrecy that surrounds a lot of the masked luchadors.
He was trained by Rodolfo Ruiz, Raúl Reyes and La Bestia Negra, and made his lucha libre debut in June of 1992 as Galaxi working for Promo Azteca, a short-lived wrestling promotion based in Mexico.
He then went to Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and joined Los Vatos Locos, a KISS tribute group along with Picudo, Charly Manson and May Flowers.
After that, he joined Polvo De Estrellas, Jessy and Yuriko to form Los Night Queens.

In 2009, Nygma left AAA and along with Cibernetico, Punket, Emo Extreme and Steel Rock, formed a new group in the Indy wrestling promotions called Los Bizarros.
Later in 2009, he returned to AAA with Los Bizarros to help Cibernetico attack Dr. Wagner, Jr.

So far during his career, he has held the National Atomicos Titles (twice with Picudo, May Flowers and Charly Manson and once with Espiritu, Picudo and Silver Cat), and the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.

Lucha Libre AAA - Marco Corleone

This six foot six, 265 pound literal beast of a man is Marco Corleone, who works for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in Mexico.
Before that he worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
But here in the States, you may know him better as Mark Jindrak from the WCW and WWE.

Mark was born on June 26, 1977 in Auburn, New York.
He was trained at the WCW Power Plant by Paul Orndorff, and made his pro wrestling debut in 1999.
Mark had a decent career in WCW, winning the WCW World Tag Team Championship twice with Sean O'Haire.
As a matter of fact, Mark and Sean helped form the wrestling stable, The Natural Born Thrillers in WCW.

When the WWF bought WCW back in 2001, Mark made the transition over to the new wrestling promotion.
He was released from his contract in 2005, and went to New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2006.

In Late 2006, Mark went to CMLL and adopted the ring name "Marco Corleone".
In CMLL, Mark (along with Shocker, El Terrible and El Hijo del Texano) were banned from wrestling in Tijuana, Mexico for a year, after an incident where he pulled down the tights of an opponent during a match.
Did all four do it?

Anyway, in 2009, Mark jumped from CMLL to the rival Mexican wrestling promotion AAA.

You can keep up with Marco at his MySpace page here:

Luchador - Argenis

Argenis is a Mexican luchador that is in the "Real Fuerza Aerea" stable with Aero Star, Laredo Kid, and Super Fly I mentioned in the last entry.
He has a questionable Lucha Libre lineage because some sources claim he is the brother of famed luchador Mistico, and some claim he is his cousin.
If either one is true (his ring gear does resemble Mistico's) that makes him related to Mistico, Astro Boy II, Dr. Karonte Jr., Dr. Karonte and Tony Salazar.
Either way, he was trained by the legendary Gran Apache.

Argenis started out in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in 2006, but was unhappy that he didn't get a push there despite being related (somehow) to Mistico.
He then moved to Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and joined the "Real Fuerza Aerea" stable where he hasnt faired much better.

Besides CMLL and AAA, Argenis has worked for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG).

Luchador - Perro Aguayo

Ring name(s) Perro Aguayo
Billed height 178 cm (5 ft 10 in)
Billed weight 98 kg (215 lb)
Born January 18, 1946,Nochistlán, Zacatecas
Trained by Apolo Romano,Diablo Velasco
Debut 1968

Pedro Aguayo better known as Perro Aguayo, was a famous Mexican wrestler in the 1970s and 1980s. His son also wrestles as Perro Aguayo, Jr. or El Hijo Del Perro Aguayo. He is one of the biggest box office attractions in Lucha Libre history and was the last major rival of El Santo. Often prone to blading, he has been described by American pundits as a cross between Terry Funk and Bruno Sammartino (for his willingness to brawl and overpower opponents). He was the first person ever crowned the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, though pre-1997 title reigns are not included in WWE's official "canon" for that title.

He was synonymous with the Universal Wrestling Association as one of its top heels and one of the top heels lucha libre overall. In the 1990s, he helped found Asistencia Asesoría y Administración and his three way feud with Konnan and Cien Caras proved to be one of the most successful programs in terms of box office receipts. He stayed with AAA until 2000, even making an appearance on WWF's Royal Rumble in 1997 in a match that featured lucha libre legends like Canek, Mil Máscaras and up and comers who would later make names for themselves like Héctor Garza and Heavy Metal. He came to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre to feud with Los Capos. He was successful in taking the hair of Cien Caras and Máscara Año 2000 but he lost his slated retirement match against Universo 2000. He remained in retirement until his son began feuding with Los Capos as well. Cien Caras claimed he could not retire until his business with Aguayo was finished so a double hair vs. hair match was set with Perro Aguayo and Perro Aguayo taking on Cien Caras and Máscara Año 2000. The Aguayos were successful and Perro Aguayo returned to retirement and Cien Caras went into semi-retirement.

Los Vipers

Los Vipers were a stable created in August 1997 during a Noti AAA sketch. The leader of the group was Cibernetico and although he never formally announced who was in the group, over the course of a few weeks in became apparent as certain people who would wear Vipers t-shirts or run-in to help Cibernetico during his matches. The initial group consisted of:

Cibernetico
Abismo Negro
Psicosis
Histeria replaced after a few weeks by Histeria
Mosco De La Merced replaced after a few weeks by Mosco De La Merced
Maniaco
Mini Abismo Negro
Mini Psicosis
Mini Histeria
Mosquito De La Merced
Electro Shock
The stable was a huge hit and had memorable feuds with Los Payasos, Los Vatos Locos and Los Junior Atomicos.

In late 1999, problems began to arise between Cibernetico & Abismo Negro and they forced all the Vipers members to choose sides. The end result was the formation of two sub-groups:

Los Vipers Extreme: Abismo Negro, Electro Shock, Pentagon, Shiiba, El Cuervo and Mini Abismo Negro.
Los Vipers Primera Clase: Cibernetico, Psicosis, Histeria, Mosco De La Merced, Maniaco, Mini Psicosis, Mosquito De La Merced and Mini Histeria.

In typical Antonio Pena fashion, the angle ended up going nowhere and after a month or two Los Vipers were re-united once again minus Shiiba, El Cuervo & Pentagon but plus Tokyo Viper.

Over the course of the next few years the actual Vipers stable began to diminish and the only members left using the name were the four-man stable comprised of: Psicosis, Histeria, Mosco De La Merced & Maniaco. Cibernetico had decided to start his own LLL (Lucha Libre Latina) group which was Pena's version of the nWo (New World Order) that existed in WCW. Maniaco ended up leaving the promotion ending his association with Los Vipers and the group OFFICIALLY died once Histeria turned tecnico in late 2005.

Of course, nothing's forever, even breakups. By spring 2004, the Vipers were reborn as Vipers Revolution.
